Two authors meet in a hotel room to bring their fantasy to life.

This is really happening.

The elevator doors opened onto the top floor of the Hôtel Le Grand Mazarin, and her heels slowed against the thick carpet of the hallway. Suite 412.

She found the door and stopped, fingers hovering at her side, Paris hummed beyond the windows at the end of the corridor. She had written this scene a hundred times. This time she wasn’t making it up.

He really paid attention and picked one of my favorite hotels. On top of that, he chose a elegant room. Not that this place would offer anything less.

Behind the door, Sebastian was waiting. Not her boyfriend, not even someone she had ever stood in the same room with before. Just a man she knew through words on a screen, a man whose last name she had never once had reason to know.

I shouldn’t want this as badly as I do.

But she did. God, she did.

She could feel it. That almost unbearable tension coiled between her thighs, her body already answering a question she hadn’t finished asking.

The fabric of her underwear pressed against her, damp and clinging, and she was acutely aware of how long she had been standing in this hallway.

I’ve been like this since I read his email. Three lines. That’s all it took. Three lines and my imagination did the rest.

Ropes? Handcuffs? He promised the extraordinary but was secretive about what exactly.

The nervousness only deepened it. Her heart thudded, the tension between her thighs grew a little more urgent. She pressed her legs together slightly, just enough to feel it and exhaled.

Stop stalling.

She raised her hand and knocked. Three soft, deliberate taps.

The door swung inward.

It hadn’t even been latched, just resting against the frame, waiting for her.

In the room beyond dozens of candles burned on every surface. The mantle, the sideboard, the windowsills — their flames the only light, casting everything in a warm, shifting gold.

And there was Sebastian. He stood a few steps inside, relaxed, a torch lighter held loosely in one hand. He touched the flame to a cluster of incense sticks resting in a slender holder on the dresser, and a thin curl of smoke rose between them, carrying amber and musk into the air.

His shoes were polished black, his trousers a deep anthracite gray that caught the dim light along every clean line. His white shirt was open just slightly at the collar. Effortless, like he hadn’t tried.

And Sebastian smiled.

Oh non.

He tilted his head toward the room, a deliberate gesture, and then opened his mouth.

“Please“

He began, then caught himself, squaring his shoulders with the quiet determination of a man attempting something he knew he had no business attempting.

“Enter, ma… Shehr.“

The French landed somewhere between endearing and catastrophic.

God. He butchered it completely.

And it is the sexiest thing I have ever heard in my life.

She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from smiling. The way he had clearly practiced, clearly tried, and produced something so gloriously imperfect. Sebastian, who seemed so composed in every other regard, fumbling over two French words just for her.

She stepped inside.

And then he came to her. No rush, no hesitation. Just crossing the room and she held her breath without deciding to. He took her hand first, his fingers wrapping around hers gently but deliberately, and drew her closer. Not all at once. Just enough.

His free hand rose to her face and she felt his fingers find a single curl. One of her red ones, coiled and stubborn as ever. He tuck it back behind her ear. Slowly. Far more slowly than was strictly necessary.

The candlelight caught the copper in her hair as he did it, and his expression shifted, just slightly, the sight of her was catching him off guard.

Then his fingers didn’t pull away. They drifted, feather-light, along the line of her jaw, tracing her cheekbone, following the curve down until his fingertips barely grazed her chin.

A ghost of a touch.

She shivered.

Don’t you let your knees go now.

“Trust me?”

Two words. No softening, no apology wrapped around them. Just his voice, threaded through with a want he wasn’t bothering to conceal.

She held those intense eyes for just a breath. Then, just above a whisper.

“Oui.”

It was all he needed.

His hand slid into her hair. Not gently, not this time. Fingers grabbing those red curls and pulling her into him in a way that stole the air from her lungs.

His mouth found hers and the kiss was nothing like the hushed atmosphere of the room. It was urgent and deep and consuming, the kind of kiss that didn’t ask questions, that had no patience left for hesitation. She felt it everywhere. In her chest, in her fingertips, in the sharp rush of tension that shot through her thighs.

Oh.

When he finally broke away, his lips were still close, his breath warm against her mouth.

“Bed. Now.”

Not a suggestion. Not an invitation.

A command.

Still holding her, he began to move. She had no choice but to move with him, stepping backwards through the room, guided by the grip in her hair and the certainty of his body against hers.

She couldn’t see where she was going. She didn’t need to.

He stopped.

Then, with a single firm touch to her shoulder he pressed her downward.

She sank to her knees.

“Stay.”

One word.

Quiet as a held breath. She stayed.

He didn’t even say it loudly. Why does that make it so much worse.

The carpet was soft beneath her knees, the candlelight warm across her face. Her chest rose and fell, calmer now. Her hands rested in her lap, fingers curled loosely against her own thighs. The amber and musk of the incense hung in the air around her. The noise in her head had stopped.

What is he going to do.

He moved away. Unhurried footsteps crossing the room.

Don’t turn around.

The soft sound of ice against glass reached her first. Then the quiet, clean pour of a liquid. A pause. And then leisurely, like a man with all the time in the world, the sound of a deep, slow sip.

He is having a drink. He put me on my knees and walked away to pour himself a drink. The audacity of this man.

She stayed. She had no idea what was coming next. She had no idea what she wanted more. For him to make her wait longer, or to close the distance between them immediately.

Sebastian strolled back to her.

He stood before her for a moment, saying nothing, a whiskey glass held loosely in one hand. Then he tilted it slightly, letting the ice shift, and dipped his thumb into the amber liquid. He held out his thumb to her.

“Taste.”

Her lips parted instantly. Her eyes fixed on his hand with a hunger she made no effort to hide, and she leaned forward. Eager, greedy, without patience.

He pulled his hand back.

Just enough. Just far enough that she found herself leaning into empty air, tilted forward on her knees.

His free hand came to her throat then. Not hard, not harsh, just present. Fingers curling with calm authority around the curve of her neck, steadying her, holding her in place.

She froze.

Her pupils went wide. Blooming dark. She swallowed. His fingers tightened a little and a shiver moved through her and into him.

“Excuse-moi, s’il te plaît.“

She whispered. A small, timid nod followed.

He swallowed once, hard, and for one moment his eyes gave him away.

“Hold still.”

His thumb hovered at her lips, steady.

“Don’t suck until I give you permission.”

“You would ruin the bouquet.”

Then he stroked her lips with his whiskey-soaked thumb. Carefully tracing their full curve as the smoky aroma reached her first, curling into her senses before the taste even arrived. When he pressed inward with steady pressure, parting her lips, coaxing her teeth apart, she felt the pad of his thumb settle against her tongue.

She did not suck.

She did not swallow.

She simply received it. As instructed. Feeling saliva gather.

I will never enjoy whiskey the same way again.

A beat of silence.

“Now.“

She began. The tip of her tongue found his thumb first, circling with patience. The taste that had already been spreading through her mouth deepened suddenly, intensified. A sound escaped her before she could stop it. Low and unguarded. Her eyes fell closed. Her lips wrapped around him and she began to suck. With relish, the way he had taught her in the span of thirty seconds.

I have bragged about this. I have considered myself rather accomplished in this particular area of expertise.

I have never done it like this.

The hand at her throat, the taste of honey, smoke and a deep, dark suggestion of chocolate on her tongue. She was simultaneously desperate for more and entirely unwilling for this specific moment to end. He took exactly as long as he decided it would take. Not a second less.

Take me. But also — not yet. Please, not yet.

Then his thumb withdrew.

The hand moved from her throat to her hair.

His blue-grey eyes looked down into her dark green ones.

Waiting.

They stared at each other. His stare was hungry. Open about it, unapologetic.

What am I supposed to do now. Is he waiting for something. Am I doing this wrong. Why is he just — looking at me like that.

She held his gaze. Seconds passed.

Say something. Do something. Why is nobody saying anything.

“I know what you want.”

“And believe me. I want it as bad as you do.”

He needed to pause.

“But you have to learn to be patient. Undress. Slowly. And lie down.”

She rose from her knees and smiled.

Because this, at least, was familiar ground. She knew what she had. She knew precisely what happened when she let her dress fall from her shoulders at the right angle. This was her territory.

She reached for the first button.

He turned around and walked back to the dresser. She faltered. The rhythm she had found stuttered for just a moment as she watched his back, his complete and utterly indifferent back, while she stood performing for no audience at all. Her hands slowed. She stared at him in disbelief.

Mais putain.

Without turning his head.

“Did I tell you to stop?“

He didn’t even look up.

Her hands moved again, almost before she decided to move them. She continued. The performance was still there but the confidence behind it had dimmed by several degrees, the smug pleasure of it quietly deflated.

Quel homme insupportable!

At the dresser, he lit another candle as though this were any ordinary evening.

He lifted it carefully and crossed back toward her, the small flame bending gently with his movement.

He stopped at the bedside.

“You’re still standing? On your back.“

His mouth closed around her nipple and the world narrowed to that single point of contact.

Oh.

Oh, he is very good at that.

The sensation began where his mouth was and radiated outward. A sharp electricity spreading across her chest, down through her stomach, until it reached her core and settled there as deep, insistent warmth.

Don’t you dare make a sound. Don’t you dare give him the satisfaction this quickly.

She gave him the satisfaction almost immediately.

Her back arched off the bed without her permission, pressing herself further into him, wanting more of his mouth and teeth, more of the wet heat of it, more of the precise and insufferable skill of him.

I take back every thought I had about being the expert in this room.

The moan that left her was throaty and unpolished and completely honest.

His lips left her skin.

The frustrated exhale escaped before she could catch it.

Come back. I was not finished with that.

Then the first drop of wax hit her chest. The pain arrived sharp and sudden. A bright needle of heat that lasted exactly one second before it spread, bloomed, softened and left behind a tingling that was nothing like pain at all.

“UH”

She couldn’t help it. She didn’t try. The neighbouring rooms had almost certainly heard that.

What was that. What in god’s name was that.

Above her, his pupils were wide and dark, his eyes intent on every tremor that moved through her body. He was enjoying this.

“More?”

She swallowed.

I don’t even know what I’m agreeing to. Yes. Obviously yes.

“Oui.”

The wax came again. Her stomach. She sucked in a sharp breath, fingers twisting into the sheets.

The pain lasts one second. Just one second and then — oh. Oh, there it is.

The hollow at the base of her throat next. She tipped her chin back instinctively, throat exposed, a long exhale leaving her as the sting faded into that same deep warmth.

He just couldn’t resist. His mouth found her neck before she even registered he had moved, lips and tongue tracing the line of her throat.

I have never felt anything like this. Why has nobody ever told me about this. Why did I not know my own body could—

Then the inside of her thigh.

The sound she made was not dignified. At all.

That one. That one in particular. I need him to know about that one.

She controlled herself better now, riding the sharp first second of each drop with clenched hands and a bitten lip, letting the moan come only when the sting dissolved. Her body had stopped resisting and started collecting, every sensation finding its way to the same place.

I need his hands, his weight on me and his mouth and I need — I need to close my lips around something that is not his thumb and I need it immediately.

The wax had cooled to small hardened patches across her skin. His mouth had left marks she could still feel.

Please.

I have never begged for anything in my life and I am begging you right now.

Her lips parted. Her voice came out smaller than she intended.

“Sebastian.“

Just his name. But the way she said it carried everything. The wax still warm on her skin. The whiskey still on her tongue. The whole long evening of waiting and wanting and being made to wait some more.

Stop making me wait. Please. I cannot survive another second of this magnificent, infuriating, exquisite foreplay. I need you. All of you. Now.

She could see him fighting to not lose control.

Her chest rose and fell. Her whole body a question, waiting for his answer.

Her eyes moved around the room.

The candles.

Oh non.

”Fire?“

She looked at him with an expression that could only be described as professionally offended.

“Sebastian. Really.“

Every single writer on that platform reaches for fire first. It is the most predictable element in the entire classical canon and I am lying here covered in wax for it.

“The whiskey was water?”

Also done. Also overused. Also beneath you.

The incense smoke, amber and musk. She said nothing for a moment.

That one. That one I did not see coming.

I genuinely hate how much I like that one.

“The incense though.“

The criticism in her voice softened almost against her will, her eyes drifting briefly toward the thin curl of smoke. She looked back at him.

“The air.“

A reluctant pause.

“That one was good.”

The grin that spread across Sebastian’s face was thoroughly satisfied.

He reached for his shirt buttons. One at a time, with the same precise, measured, unhurried, deliberate and god damned annoying patience he had applied to everything else this evening.

“The fire.“

He acknowledged mildly, working the second button loose

“Is a classic for a reason.“

The third button. He tilted his head, his eyes on hers, that grin not going anywhere.

“And the whiskey“

The fourth

“You enjoyed well enough.“

The shirt fell from his shoulders in one clean motion.

He reached for his belt. And then he paused. Just long enough to look at her. Really look at her, lying there.

“But tell me.“

His hands stilled. That grin faded. His eyes darkened.

“Do you already know about the fourth element?“

Earth.

Her brow furrowed slightly.

Earth. What could he possibly have done with earth.

Her eyes drifted around the room and landed on the bathroom door. She pointed in that direction.

“Did you plan to cover me in a mud mask and wash it off again?“

He shook his head.

“Fire, water, air. Those are for you. Every single one of them.”

He held her gaze as his hands moved to his trousers.

So. Here we are. After all of that — the wax, the whiskey, the insufferable patience of the man — here we finally, actually are. About time.

The trousers dropped.

Oh.

Well then.

She felt her mouth go dry.

That is going to require a moment of adjustment and I am absolutely here for every second of it.

He pulses. Just standing there, not even touching me, and he pulses like that.

And that glistening. That beautiful, honest glistening that tells me everything I need to know about how this evening has affected him despite that composure of his.

Good. Suffer a little. I certainly have.

I need him in my mouth before anything else. I need to taste him the way he made me taste that whiskey — with my full and undivided attention.

His eyes found hers.

“The fourth element“

His voice dropping

“is for me.“

“Emma, you’re my earth.“

He grabbed her ankle.

Oh. Non— Oh. Oui. Oui. Enfin.
